New Braunfels ISD White Oak

White oak is one of the preeminent hardwoods of eastern and central North America. It is a long-lived oak, native to eastern and central North America and found from Minnesota, Ontario, Quebec, and southern Maine south as far as northern Florida and eastern Texas. Specimens have been documented to be over 450 years old.

This white oak was retrieved from what is about to become the the new Administration Building for the New Braunfels ISD. the wood was part of a reception desk in the old building.

The building was originally built in 1856 as the New Braunfels Academy. In 1871 it became a public school as a result of new legislation .
